Overview

By opening the Laura Song Text Database maintained by Sibelius Academy at laura.uniarts.fi the user accepts the terms and conditions presented in this document and agrees to be bound by them when using the database. These terms and conditions apply to using the free-of-charge but copyright-protected database. In addition, some works contained in the database may have further specific restrictions regarding their use.

Use of Database, Copyright

The song text translation database is produced and owned by Sibelius Academy. The copyrights of the materials held in the database belong to Sibelius Academy, the authors, translators or other owners. The service is primarily meant for teaching and research purposes or for private use. Works contained in the database may be used in concert programmes and copied for this purpose, unless the work has a specific notice stating this type of use is restricted. If the use is restricted, the work can be used in a concert programme only with prior permission from the translation copyright owner.

N.B.! Exception: all translations published in the database may be used without separate permission in the programmes of any concerts organised by Sibelius Academy.

Any other use of the works published in the database is permitted only in accordance with current copyright laws.

When quoting the material, the names of authors and translators and the source of the translation (Laura Database; laura.uniarts.fi) must always be specified in conjunction with the work or the quote. Copying or using the database or any material contained in the database, such as linking the material to produce new databases or other publications, other commercial use, or surrendering the material to a third party for any of these purposes, is strictly forbidden without prior written permission from Sibelius Academy. Copying, editing, showing, replicating, distributing, transferring, publicly broadcasting or otherwise using the works contained in the database in ways other than those permitted in these terms and conditions is strictly forbidden without prior permission from the copyright owner. This limitation does not apply to printing or saving on the computer some parts of the material if it is done for individual private use or for teaching or research purposes.

User Responsibility

Copyright violation may result in penalties and/or liability for damages. The user is fully responsible for any damages caused to the Sibelius Academy or a third party as a result of using the database in a way that violates these terms and conditions or laws and regulations.

Sibelius Academy Responsibility

Sibelius Academy is not responsible for any direct or indirect damages incurred by the user or a third party as a result of the use of the database, its content or any errors or omissions in the content. Sibelius Academy is not responsible for damages caused by the operation or malfunctions of the database.

Sibelius Academy reserves the right to change the database contents, its operation and the terms and conditions.

Any disputes regarding the use of the database will be resolved in the Finnish court of jurisdiction in accordance with Finnish law.
